Snapchat Rolls Out Birthdays Mini
Birthdays are more special if your near and dear friends and family shared wishes with you. So that Snapchat recently included a ‘Birthdays Mini’ reminder tool which is a new way to remember friends’ birthdays and share celebrations within the app. This ‘Snap Mini’ feature enables Snapchatters to see recent and upcoming birthdays, as well as birthdays organized by Zodiac sign in Snapchat profile. Wish your friends a happy birthday with unique stickers and fun AR Lenses to celebrate their big day! This mini can even countdown your own birthday, right down to the second!
Snap said the Birthdays Mini is the first Snap Mini to include a lens sharing feature that enables themed lenses to be unlocked for use in Snaps or Stories. Only Snapchatters who have opted in to allow their birthday to be seen on the applications will be included in the Birthdays Mini, and birth years or ages are not displayed. Users can swipe up to reply to and join the Mini when they see it in a post or a Story.
Snap users are big on Zodiac signs and astrology. Last November, Snapchat also added Astrological Profiles, which provide users with insights into their star sign, and what that means for them and their relationships.
How To Check Birthdays Mini Feature
If you’re still new to the Mini feature, you can locate it by going into the Chat section and tapping on the rocket icon shown at the extreme right of the chat text field. You can also access the feature via the Snapchat (iOS and Android) Search field.
Snap Minis—bite-sized utilities built with HTML5 that work for all Snapchatters on all devices, with no installation required. Some of the other Minis already operating within Snapchat include experiences created by HBO Max, Poshmark, Movie Tickets by Atom, Register to Vote by DemocracyWorks, and others.
Increase Engagement in Snap
By introducing this feature Snapchat will get more users engaging around birthdays within the app, the same as Facebook’s Memories and ‘On This Day’ feature. On Facebook, millions of Facebook users visit their personal “On This Day” page every day. Indeed, back in 2017, Facebook reported that more than 155 million had opted-in, specifically, to receive notifications for the feature.
